Every Wednesday night, Clara hosts our own jazz jam session
Clara Jam Sessions
Our jam sessions aim to provide an inclusive space for jazz musicians. Our hosts prioritize giving performance opportunities to underrepresented musical voices in the hopes that we can actively support the growth of new and diverse artists in the Chicago jazz scene. Designed not only for making music, these jams also give attendees an opportunity to connect and grow their own jazz community.
Come listen to great music, meet new people on the scene, and discover an all-around supportive community!

Our jams began as a monthly event hosted by Millie Ahearn, who chose to use this platform as a way to highlight female, non-binary, genderqueer and otherwise trans musicians in the jazz community by booking a new artist from these communities to feature their own house band each session. This curated concert series and jam session hosted by Millie will now continues to take place on the first, second and third Wednesdays of each month.
As we take steps to expand our sessions, we have also sought ways to grow—primarily by incorporating new perspectives and voices.
Our newest jam host, Chandler Browne, leads “The FrÄ“ Jam” session every fourth Wednesday. "FrÄ“" is written in I.P.A. To emphasize the ethos of the jam: to explore what we hear based on our collective sound.
We are so grateful to provide a platform for Millie and Chandler to work in tandem, developing these sessions and advancing our shared goal of fostering a community-centered, inclusive space.
As we look toward the future of these sessions, we want to thank everyone who comes out to participate. Simply by joining us, you help create and sustain this special community.
