Upshtat Zingerai prestents, Tantshoyz: Klezmer Dance Party

Upshtat Zingerai is thrilled to present Tantshoyz: Klezmer Dance Party at Clara, featuring Emma Blau on trombone, Hannah Mira Friedland on fiddle, Jonah Lazarus on percussion, Max Lazarus on saxophone and flute, and Qi Yang on accordion.

Upshtat Zingerai (oop-shtaht zing-er-ai), Yiddish for “Uptown Singalong,” blends traditional Eastern European Jewish Klezmer and Yiddish melodies with contemporary influences to bring you liberatory dance, rooted in and inspired by the Jewish Diaspora in Chicago, and beyond. Recent performances include: programs hosted by the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA), Jewish Liberation Fund, Kleztronica with dance music artist Chaia, the Chicago Judaica Pop-up Markets hosted by Pushcart Judaica, and the Jewish Museum of Chicago, and performances at the South Shore Cultural Center and Color Club— where Upshtat Zingerai presented its inaugural, electrifying, interdisciplinary 2024 Purim Tantshoyz: Klezmer Dance Party & Cabaret.
