About the event
Sofia Rabiela (she/they) is an Arab/Latina bass player from the southwest side of Chicago. Sofia is a product of the jazz education resources here in Chicago being both a Ravinia Jazz Scholar and Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra alum. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Michigan State University studying under bass legend Rodney Whitaker. Spending much time in Michigan, Sofia’s bass playing and compositions echo the influences of the sister cities, Chicago and Detroit.
House jam session on the first, second and third Wednesday of every month, hosted by Millie Ahearn and a rotating new house band.
