About the event
Chicago based pianist, educator, arranger, and composer, Oliver Scott is a versatile and creative voice in jazz. Before moving to Chicago in 2023, Oliver held a position at James Madison University as an Instructor of Jazz Piano. While at JMU he performed with some of Virginia's greatest jazz musicians, including John D’earth, Charles Owens, Emre Kartari, Adam Larrabee, and Sam Suggs. Oliver currently keeps a large private teaching studio at Northside Music Academy and frequently performs in the Chicagoland area.
Oliver holds a bachelor’s degree in music education and jazz performance from Ithaca College, and a masters degree in jazz from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, where he was mentored by celebrated pianist Gary Versace.
