About the event
Katarina Ignatovich is a Latvian-American flautist currently based in Chicago. Prior to moving to Chicago, she earned her Master’s degree from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in Brussels, Belgium and her Bachelor’s degree from the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in Riga, Latvia. Through an Erasmus exchange program, she also spent a year studying in Munich, Germany. During her time in Europe, she participated in numerous masterclasses, concerts, festivals, workshops, competitions, and recordings, while continuing to teach flute lessons in Latvia.
From 2021 to 2024, Katarina was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, where she took part in several of the orchestra’s professional development initiatives, including the mentorship program, chamber music series, and fellowship program.
Since arriving in Chicago in 2021, Katarina has continued to collaborate with orchestras like the Chicago Philharmonic, Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra, Northbrook Symphony Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, as well as with various independent…
